Sweet Child O’ Mine Birth Center is looking for an experienced, outgoing, and caring Florida Licensed Midwife or Certified Nurse Midwife to join our team. Our ideal candidate is a team player that is compassionate and caring of patients, has the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently; able to work in a fast-paced clinic environment, is detail-oriented, highly organized, and has excellent verbal and communication skills. Must be licensed in Florida.

Sweet Child O’ Mine is a licensed birth center in the Tampa Bay area. We’re a growing practice with a volume of 15-25 patients each month, four clinic days each week and a rotation of midwives on call. Benefits include malpractice insurance coverage, CEU or license renewal allowance and paid vacation.

About Us

Sweet Child O’ Mine Birth Center is seeking a staff midwife to join us in providing high quality patient-centered care in the Tampa Bay area. Sweet Child O’ Mine is a licensed, freestanding birth center in Brandon, Florida, since 2014. We provide complete maternity care by midwives.  This care includes prenatal visits, labor and delivery in the birth center, waterbirth, home births on a limited basis, postpartum care and lactation support. At Sweet Child O’ Mine, we strive to not only meet professional standards of care, but also the individual wishes of the birthing family, creating a satisfying family-centered birth experience. Our 3400 sq ft facility offers three birthing suites with private bathrooms and mini kitchens, as well as access to a full kitchen. We have two exam rooms where prenatal and postpartum exams are conducted and an amazing support staff which includes a nurse, lab assistants, birth assistants, and a 5 person administrative staff. 

Job Description

– Provide comprehensive prenatal, labor, and postpartum care, including risk assessment, attending deliveries at the birth center and patient’s homes
– Monitor fetal development and maternal health throughout pregnancy
– Commitment to the philosophy of out of hospital birth, advocating for natural childbirth
– Conduct physical examinations and perform diagnostic evaluations
– Assess, manage, and treat pregnancy related problems
– Educate patients on all aspects of pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, postpartum recovery, as well as nutrition and a healthy lifestyle
– Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care for patients
– Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records
– Collect and process specimens for laboratory testing
– Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and quality assurance program

Requirements

– Valid certification as a Licensed Midwife or Certified Nurse Midwife
– Current clear and active license to practice midwifery in the State of Florida as a Licensed Midwife or Certified Nurse Midwife, or ability to become licensed in the State of Florida
– Current NRP and BLS certification
– Knowledge of holistic methods is preferable, although a willingness to learn is sufficient.
– 3+ years experience is preferred, however new graduates and midwives with less than 3 years experience will be considered based on clinical experience, education, level of commitment, and fit with our practice
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members
– Detail oriented and highly organized
– Flexible, committed, and a team player willing to go the extra mile

Must be able to commute to or relocate in the vicinity of Brandon, Florida (Tampa Bay area)
